The earlier, the better! I recommend reserving your baby’s first birthday session 2–3 months in advance to ensure availability. If you’d like portraits before your baby’s birthday for invitations or party decorations, booking early is especially important.

What age is best for a No-Mess First Birthday Session?

These sessions are designed for babies celebrating their first birthday, typically between 11 and 13 months. If your baby is slightly younger or older, don’t worry—we can still create beautiful portraits together.

Can I bring a real cake?

At this time, I do not photograph sessions with real cakes. My signature No-Mess First Birthday Sessions feature a handcrafted wooden keepsake cake, creating clean, timeless portraits without frosting, stains, or messy cleanup. This allows the focus to remain on your baby’s beautiful expressions while preserving the classic heirloom style that defines my work.

Can I use these images for birthday invitations?

Absolutely! Many families schedule their session before their baby’s birthday so they can use their portraits for invitations, party decorations, social media announcements, and keepsake albums.

Do I need to bring an outfit?

One carefully selected studio outfit is included with your session. You may choose to use the provided outfit or bring your own instead. For the most timeless results, I recommend selecting something simple that coordinates with the classic white setup.

What if my baby becomes sick?

Your baby’s health always comes first. If your child becomes ill before the session, please contact me as soon as possible and we’ll happily reschedule your appointment.

Can I purchase prints?

Yes! Your gallery includes access to professional-quality heirloom prints, wall art, albums, and keepsakes that are designed to last for generations.

Can parents or siblings participate?

This particular session is designed for the birthday baby only. If you’d like family portraits, I recommend booking a Family First Mini Session before or after your baby’s birthday.

How long is the session?

The Family First Mini Session last up to 30 minutes. Because it is a mini session, the experience is intentionally simple and focused, allowing enough time to create a meaningful variety of portraits without becoming overwhelming for young children.

How many images are included?

The No Mess Cake Smash Mini Session includes 5 professionally edited images selected from your private online gallery. Families who allow selected images from their session to be used in the Yulia Moore Photography portfolio will receive 5 additional edited images at no extra cost, for a total of 10 edited digital images.

Can I choose my favorite images?

Absolutely! You’ll receive a private online proofing gallery where you can view your finished images and select your favorites for professional retouching.
